Disc drive repairDisc won’t read or won’t come out?
Grinding noises, “unrecognized disc” errors, a disc that’s stuck inside, or a drive that just sits there. We repair PS5 and Xbox Series X disc drives so your physical games work again.
A disc drive is one of the few moving parts in a modern console. The laser reads the disc, a motor spins it, and a small mechanism pulls it in and pushes it out. Over time the laser weakens and the mechanism wears, and the drive starts to struggle.
Sometimes it’s a quick mechanical fix. Sometimes the drive needs a new part. Either way, your console doesn’t need to be replaced.
Sounds like your problem?
- Discs won’t read, or you see an “unrecognized disc” message.
- The drive makes grinding, clicking or spinning noises.
- A disc is stuck inside and won’t eject.
- It won’t take a disc in at all.
- Games freeze or stutter only when playing from the disc.
Why you can’t just swap in a used drive
On the PS5, the disc drive is paired to the console’s own main board. A drive pulled out of a different PS5 won’t work in yours, even though it looks identical. That catches a lot of people who buy a used drive online.
We repair your drive or replace the part that failed and make sure it’s paired to your console, so it works like it did on day one.
How we fix it
We open the console, test the drive, and find out whether it’s the laser, the motor or the loading mechanism. Then we fix or replace what failed and test it with several discs before it goes back together.
If a disc is stuck, we get it out safely first — please don’t pry at it, because that can bend the mechanism.
Most disc drive repairs are done in 1–2 business days. Nothing is due until it’s fixed, and it has a 6-month warranty. Older disc drives (PS4, Xbox One and earlier) are quoted after a quick look.
Straight answers
Can I just buy a used PS5 disc drive online?
Not one that will work on its own. PS5 disc drives are paired to the console’s main board, so a drive from another console won’t read discs in yours. We repair or pair the drive to your console.
My disc is stuck. Can you get it out?
Yes. We remove it safely and you get it back. Please don’t pry it with anything — that’s the easiest way to bend the mechanism.
Will my digital games still work?
Yes. A disc drive repair doesn’t touch your storage, so digital games and saves stay where they are.
Does the Xbox Series S have a disc drive?
No. The Series S is all-digital, so disc drive repairs are for the Series X.
